Seattle’s the place, come one, come all, families too.  Our residence this year is Best Western Executive Inn. 200 Taylor Ave. North.  Seattle, WA. 98109.  The 510th Fighter Squadron Association welcomes all personnel and families of the 405th Fighter Wing, 509th, 510th and 511th Fighter Squadrons to attend the 2008 reunion.    We will have our usual Flight Suit/BDU/Party Suit Social on Friday Night and All Generations Banquet on Saturday Night.   Come and meet Col. Ralph Jenkins, 510th Commander during WW2.

(Current tax rate is 15.6%).  Reservation guaranteed with Credit Card.  After August 27 the rate is $145.00 per night plus tax.  Booking Deadlines: 27 August final booking date. 1 September ‘08 final release date for rooms not confirmed.  Subsequent reservations on ‘Space-Available’ basis, at regular rates.

Air Travel

Sea-Tac Airport is 15 miles from the hotel.  Domestic airlines serving Seattle are:  AirTran, Alaska, America West, American, Continental, Delta, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest, United and US Airways.  Transportation includes:  Metro Transit, taxi service and rental cars.  Rental car service includes:  Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty.
 
Travel to Canada:
If you will be traveling to Canada during your reunion trip, you must have proof of citizenaship.  Until June 1, 2009,  U.S. citizens 19 years and older who enter the U.S. at land and sea ports of entry from within the Western Hemisphere will need to present government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license as proof of identity, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate, or a passport. Children age 18 and under will be able to enter with proof of citizenship. Verbal claims of citizenship and identity alone will not be sufficient to establish identity and citizenship for entry into the United States.

Schedule

Wednesday, 1 October 4 PM - Reunion registration and welcoming reception will be in the Hospitality Suite.  The Hospitality Suite is the social center for the reunion.  The $20.00 cost includes beverages and snacks for the entire reunion.  

Thursday, 2 October - Tours and free time to visit.

Friday, 3 October – Tours and free time to visit.  Flight Suite/BDU/Party Suite Social  $20.00:  Join us for hors’deurves, a cash bar and hours of socializing, story telling and sharing memories.

Saturday, 4 October – Tours and free time to visit.  Morning business meeting for general membership.  Come and enjoy your choice of main entrée at the All Generations Banquet   $40.00 (Vote for your choice below.)  The main entrée will be accompanied by the chef’s choice of vegetable, salad and dessert.  Sit, chat and enjoy a glass of wine with Veterans from all eras.  Enjoy a presentation by our guest speaker (to be announced).  After the banquet, join us in the Hospitality Suite to share stories as we bring our reunion to a close.

Sunday, 5 October – Farewell breakfast and departures.

We plan to continue recording oral history interviews on video during the reunion.  We want to record many of your wonderful stories and experiences from your service with the squadrons. FUTURE OF FLIGHT AVIATION CENTER AND BOEING TOUR - Located 25 miles north of Seattle in Everett, Wash., showcase The Boeing Company and the Everett product line, the 747, 767, 777 and 787. As part of the tour, visitors will tour the largest building in the world by volume (472,000,000 cubic feet). On the Boeing flight line, visitors will see airplanes in various stages of flight test and manufacture for airline customers around the world. Visitors come from every walk of life and from every region of the globe, all with a common interest -- to see the number one aerospace leader in the world: The Boeing Company.  (Scenic Seattle Tours – 4 hours, $50.00pp)

MUSEUM OF FLIGHT - Located 10-minutes south of Seattle, the museum's exhibits recount the history of commercial aviation, display vintage planes, portray aerospace future and houses the original Air Force One.  (Gray Lines – 3 ½ hours $37.00pp)

WINERY AND BREWERY TOURS AND TASTINGS - Some of the state's largest wineries and breweries are located in Woodinville, a 35-minute drive from Seattle. These include Chateau Ste. DOWNTOWN SHOPPING - Seattle's downtown retail core, within easy walking distance of the Convention Center and hotels, offers a variety of stores to suit all tastes. Shoppers will enjoy Nordstrom's new flagship store, the up-scale shopping center Pacific Place and the REI flagship store complete with an indoor climbing pinnacle, rain booth and dirt trail for shoppers to test their outdoor equipment.

PIKE PLACE MARKET - The oldest continually operating farmers market in the nation, this colorful market boasts a splendid array of seafood and produce stalls, restaurants, crafts and international foods.

WATERFRONT - 11/2 miles of shops, restaurants, excursion boats and maritime sightseeing. The waterfront area is also home to the Seattle Aquarium and Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center.

DUCK TOURS – Take a 90 minute tour of Seattle by land and sea in  an amphibious World War II vehicle. Cost is $23 for adults and $13 for children under 12 years.

CHINATOWN DISCOVERY TOUR - Customize your tour of one of Seattle's most fascinating neighborhoods to focus on music, art, herbal medicine, acupuncture or shopping.  Be sure to sign up for a tour that includes dim sum at lunchtime, or choose "Nibble Your Way Through Chinatown."  Rates for a 90 minute tour with 4 to 9 people $17 adults and $11 children 5-11 years.  3 person tour $23 adults.  2 person tour $28 adults.

SEATTLE AQUARIUM - Located on the waterfront, the aquarium is a favorite for all ages, featuring the world's first aquarium-based salmon ladder, a coastal tidepool, sea otters and a giant Pacific octopus.

PIONEER SQUARE - Seattle's historic district is filled with boutique shopping, art galleries, nightlife activities, international dining and sightseeing opportunities.

WOODLAND PARK ZOO - Stroll through 92-acres of natural habitat exhibits and wildlife in one of the top ten zoos in the country.
