The Academy Hotel, 8110 North Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80920 - Reservations - 1-800-766-8524. Rooms are reserved under 510th Fighter Squadron Association. Visit http://www.theacademyhotel.com/ for other hotel information including dining menu for the Garden Terrace restaurant.

The room rate is $89.00 plus 9.4% tax ($97.37 total). Rooms include a Full Hot Buffet Breakfast (6:30am to 9:00am). Check-in time is guaranteed at 4:00pm. Any other time before 4:00pm day of arrival is subject to availability. Check-out time is 12:00 noon. Pets are allowed.

Rooms include free high speed internet, mini refrigerators, iron and board, hair dryers, coffee maker, satellite TV and voice mail. Rooms are handicapped accessible.

The hotel provides complimentary transportation from Colorado Springs Airport 7am - 11pm. Just pick up the courtesy phone at the airport and let the front desk know that you need transportation. Complimentary passes to Bally Total Fitness. Enterprise Rent-A-Car on premises.

Other hotel amenities include: Heated pool, Sauna and exercise room, Outdoor hot tub and free hotel parking including space for RVs.

Weather

Colorado Springs temperatures in September generally range from a high of 75°F to a low of 47°F. Be sure to bring some warm clothes. Colorado Springs is at an elevation of 6,035 feet and Pikes Peak at 14,110 ft above sea level. Pikes Peak can be windy and cold even on warm summer days. Be aware that visitors from lower elevations may be susceptible to altitude sickness.

Royal Gorge Train Ride - Enjoy a two hour train ride through the "Grand Canyon of the Arkansas" on an unforgettable journey over the famous Hanging Bridge. Experience this train ride that has been termed "The most spectacular 12 miles of railroad in America."

Flying W Ranch - Browse around an authentic old western town, enjoy a real Chuckwagon Dinner of BBQ beef or chicken, baked pototoes, famous Flying W beans, applesauce, dutch-oven biscuits, spice cake and coffee. After supper, sit back and enjoy a root-en toot-en stage show with cowboys singing old songs of the west.

Monday, September 11

Air Force Academy - Home of 4,000 Air Force Cadets. Visits include the cadet Chapel, Barry Goldwater Visitors Center (featuring exhibits on cadet life and Academy history), gift shop and theatre.

Join us for an entertaining evening together at the Flight Suit/BDU(Battle Dress Uniform)/Party Suit Social. Enjoy a buffet of Cheese and Fruit Tray, Vegetable Tray, Chicken Tenders, Spring Rolls, Meatballs, Coffee and Tea. There will be a cash bar during the entire social.

Tuesday, September 12

The annual business meeting will be held from 8:00 to 10:00 to discuss Association business.

Discover Colorado Springs as you learn the history of the Pikes Peak region. Drive past Colorado College and prestigious homes on "Millionaires Row". A stop at Pioneers museum will provide a peek at our past and some of our early promininent pioneers. Visit Old Colorado City, a quaint historical district dating back to 1858, for shopping, browsing and lunch on your own.

The cash bar begins at 18:00 hours. Next join us at 19:00 hours for the highlight of the reunion, the Buzzard Banquet. Enjoy Salmon or London Broil, with chefs choice of salad, starch, vegetable, dessert, coffee and tea. The Air Force Band has been contacted regarding the availablity of a small component providing a short program of patriotic music. As usual, we will have a very intersting guest speaker. Afterwards, join us at the Hospitality Room for socializing and some more war stories.
