Wing Pilots Destroy Two Viet Cong Targets

Bien Hoa (7AF) - Wing pilots continued to pound the Viet Cong this week. Three missions flown from here accounted for 131 structures destroyed, 140 damaged, 3 ox carts and 2,000 kilos of rice destroyed.

Two F-100 Supersabre from the 531st Tactical Fighter Squadron and two from the 510th Tactical Fighter Squadron were scrambled off the alert Tuesday morning to hit a VC concentration 95 miles west of Saigon.

Captain Sergi L. Demchuk and Captain Kenneth R. Smith of the 531st were first on target followed by Captains Gary W. Fredricks and Gary W. Findlay of the 510th. The target was very close to the Cambodian border according to the pilots.

Demchuk and Smith damaged 40 structures and suppressed automatic and small arms fire directed at them. Fredricks and Findlay followed. They Viet Cong had no idea they were there until it was too late. The 510th destroyed the remnants of the first run.
